About SIMS

About Sainath Institute of Medical Sciences

A multi-speciality hospital on the Bellary–Uravakonda highway in Anantapur, built so that families in Rayalaseema do not have to travel to Bengaluru or Hyderabad for serious illness.

Why SIMS exists

For decades, a family in Anantapur facing a heart attack, a road accident, a complicated delivery or a cancer diagnosis had one realistic option: load the patient into a vehicle and drive four to six hours to Bengaluru or Hyderabad. Some made it. Many did not, and many more were ruined financially by the attempt.

Sainath Institute of Medical Sciences was established to change that arithmetic. The hospital brings emergency medicine, intensive care, cardiology, neurology and neurosurgery, surgical specialties, maternity and neonatal care, and a full diagnostic service onto a single campus in Anantapur — so that the critical first hours are spent on treatment rather than on the highway.

We are a district hospital by location and a tertiary-care hospital by capability. That combination is deliberate, and it is the whole point.

What we do

Six capabilities that determine whether a serious illness is survivable close to home.

Who we serve

The hospital's catchment extends well beyond Anantapur town. Patients come from Guntakal, Tadipatri, Kadiri, Dharmavaram, Rayadurg, Kalyandurg, Uravakonda, Gooty and Hindupur, and from across the Karnataka border around Bellary — a region where the nearest comparable tertiary facility was previously several hours away.

Many of these families work in agriculture, construction, mining and daily-wage employment. Cost is not a secondary consideration for them, and we do not treat it as one. The billing desk provides written estimates before admission wherever possible, and explains what insurance covers and what it does not.

How we try to work

  • Explain the diagnosis and the plan in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi or English — whichever the family understands best
  • Give a written cost estimate before planned admission, and interim bills during long stays
  • Take consent as a conversation about risks and alternatives, not as a signature on a form
  • Keep one identified doctor accountable for each admitted patient
  • Say clearly when a patient needs a service we do not provide, and help arrange the referral
  • Treat attendants as part of the care team, because in Indian hospitals they are
